Preston’s Public Sector takes to the streets

On the 30 November 2011 the UK public sector went on strike in regards to public pensions. SpeakUpPreston’s Bugz went along to speak to those involved.

In Preston the trade unions gathered in Avenham Park, the starting point of the march which began at 11.30am. The march proceeded through the city center, ending on the flag market, when there was speeches concerning the goverments plans for the public pension.  At 1pm the public sector cheared for the “One Noise at One”.

Che Seymour spoke to some of those protesting.

We first spoke to Ian (whom is the head of trade of congress) to find out what the strike was all about and then after the march got to its location, we spoke to a lady to get her views on the teaching side. Finally we spoke to Janet Newsham who is involved with trade unnion education to get her views on the cuts.
